Los tyrana. Na początku wszyscy przed nim drżą. Na końcu - on drży przed wszystkimi!

What’s the deal with Zelensky? Ukraine has already chosen Berlin!

Everyone in the opposition, along with President Andrzej Duda, is criticizing Volodymyr Zelensky for being photographed and exchanging pats on the back with a few members of Donald Tusk’s (pocket-sized) regime. And the outrage over Zelensky giving an interview to liberal-leftist media! It’s mind-boggling how politicians can puff themselves up over such trivial matters.

I share the view expressed in yesterday’s piece by editor Konrad Dziecielski that President Zelensky will dance with anyone who buys a ticket from him. Today, that ticket can be bought by Donald Tusk and his deputy, Rafał „Bonjour” Trzaskowski.

What can Kaczyński and Morawiecki offer? A kind word and a pat on the back, which is far too little to make President Zelensky want to join their dance. Statements like, „We’ve done so much for you yesterday (while others have done little or nothing at all)” carry little weight because, in politics, what’s past is not written in the ledger. If tomorrow Donald Duck wins Poland’s elections, Prime Minister Tusk will also get the cold shoulder from Zelensky. Political life is brutal!

Something tells me that PiS will attempt to orchestrate a meeting between Nawrocki and Trump before the first round of the presidential election. They’d be foolish not to try such an operation. Will it succeed? I don’t know. But let’s assume it does, and Donald Trump dances his charming—or, as some say, almost hypnotic (albeit not very dynamic)—“step-to-step, hip-to-the-side” routine with Karol Nawrocki. And then what? Of course, it will be a success. But wouldn’t President Trump then be „interfering” in Poland’s election campaign?

The highly esteemed Professor Andrzej Nowak stated that by choosing Tusk, Zelensky essentially chose Berlin—if I understood him correctly. The professor spoke an obvious truth. But this didn’t happen during Zelensky’s last visit to Warsaw; it happened much earlier, in September 2023, when the Ukrainian president accused Poland of collaborating with Russia during his speech at the UN.

“It is alarming to see some of our friends in Europe playing with our solidarity in a political theater, turning the grain issue into a thriller. It seems they are playing for themselves, but in reality, they are preparing the stage for an actor from Moscow,” Zelensky said at the time. And after everything we’ve done for them…

So, I’d advise the gentlemen from the opposition and President Duda to focus on what truly matters rather than on minor league politicians.
